The history of the club
The Tennis Club de la Seymaz was founded in 1944 by a group of Services Industriels employees who wanted to play and promote the sport within the company. Originally named the Tennis Club of the Services Industriels de Genève (TCSI), it was first located in Miremont, then at Les Tulipiers, before moving in 1976 to its current site in Chêne-Bourg. As the name too often gave the impression that the club was reserved solely for SIG staff, it was renamed in 2023 after the stream that runs alongside it. The ties with SIG nonetheless remain strong, with benefits still offered to its employees.
The Seymaz is a river in the canton of Geneva and a tributary of the Arve — and thus a sub-tributary of the Rhône. It is the only river whose entire course lies within the canton's territory.
